For a long time, I believed I had to follow one path and be good at it, until I realized I’m good at many things, especially in the field of storytelling. I’m a multimedia producer and film director, writer, line producer, creative concept developer and a media trainer. I breathe and live visual storytelling AND they say I am funny. I am a nerdy planner and coordinator who loves Excel sheets, which makes me a fantastic producer. I pride myself in my ability to wear many hats and contribute to any team in different capacities including writing, producing, directing, project management, idea popping, problem-solving, I could go on.

Background

I’m a third culture Arab woman on the move. Born and raised in Bahrain (google it) in a family of journalists and human rights defenders, I have always been fascinated by people and their stories. My journey began in journalism, starting with print journalism, then radio, and finally TV. Because of that, I have a multilayered cultural experience and a wide and diverse network from around the world, and I became a master at maximizing available resources. English and Arabic are my native languages, and I have an intermediate level of Dutch that I will continue to improve.

Producer

Throughout my time in Chicago and Washington D.C., I worked at some of the largest TV and radio stations, where I gained a full understanding of the production process by being involved every step of the way. As a film producer, I’ve worked in the capacity of executive producer, production manager and line producer. I’m obsessed with details and creating flawless schedules. My strong leadership and communication skills alongside efficient and clever budget management, make me a very effective producer. Most importantly, I’m a spider in the web and my contacts extend beyond the Netherlands, and to the U.S., the Middle East and other European countries. I have produced countless of TV shows, and 5 short films, and three more are in development.

Director

My practical skills are great, especially when it is combine with the creative approach. As a director, I come up with storylines, write and edit scripts, and work with heads of departments on art, camera, colors, wardrobe, and the overall creative vision of a film. My understanding of production and crew management make me a better director. I have directed 3 short films, and operated as an assistant director on three others. Currently working on my first feature film. Nothing gives me more joy than being on set, seeing a project through to the end, and witnessing creative ideas come to life. I love creating stories that generates raw emotions in people.

What else?

I have a can-do approach and a “yes, and” mentality that allows me to always think of alternative solutions and build on other peoples’ ideas.
